Teeth Whitening

Regardless of how well you care for your teeth, it is inevitable that, over time, some yellowing or discoloration will occur.

This gradual change can be caused by aging, substances that stain your teeth (such as coffee and tobacco), excessive fluoride, or the deterioration of a tooth’s nerve. A tooth whitening treatment can be performed either as an at-home, dentist-supervised process or in the dentist’s chair. While neither of these methods stops future discoloration, these treatments bring about whiter teeth and help create a more vibrant smile.

At our office, we use Boost teeth whitening, which is a safe and effective way to whiten your teeth. The process involves applying a whitening gel to the surface of your teeth and using a special light to activate the bleaching agent. This helps remove deep stains and can dramatically improve the overall color of your teeth in just one appointment.

For best results after your in-office Boost teeth whitening, follow the post treatment instructions below:

  • Avoid staining foods: Coffee, tea, red wine, blueberries, curries, marinara sauce, dark sodas, or any other dark pigment food or drink. Anything that can stain your Tupperware™ will likely stain your teeth! AVOID DARK FOOD AND DRINKS FOR THE NEXT TWO TO THREE DAYS!
  • Use petroleum jelly or other lip balm on your lips to restore moisture: The whitening process can cause temporary dryness of the lips. Applying a thin layer of petroleum jelly or lip balm after your treatment can help restore moisture and prevent cracking.
  • Use sensitivity relief products if needed: Some individuals may experience temporary tooth sensitivity after their whitening treatment. If this happens, you can take ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, etc.). This can also help with jaw pain that may occur during the whitening process.
  • To maintain your shade, use a whitening toothpaste and have regular professional cleanings: Whitening toothpastes can help maintain your bright smile by removing surface stains. It is also important to continue with regular professional cleanings to remove any stubborn stains and keep your teeth healthy.
